We’re delighted to have officially unveiled our wonderful PAWS-itivity dog sculptures at this year’s Suffolk Show!
Our ‘Library Labradors’ all feature creative and colourful designs individually created by local artists for our biggest ever fundraising campaign.
The campaign will spread some PAWS-itivity, colour and fun across Suffolk this summer, whilst helping to raise money to support the vital work of Suffolk Libraries.
You can see a selection of the dogs in the pictures below, with more information about the designs and the artists behind them available to read on our website.
Bruce Leeke, Suffolk Libraries Chief Executive, said:
“We’re delighted to have finally unveiled our PAWS-itivity dogs at the Suffolk Show. They look fantastic and hundreds of people have been marvelling at the beautiful designs. The dogs will be taking up residence in our libraries over the summer so look out for them as they add a splash of colour across Suffolk!
"We had a packed marquee at the official launch event and are incredibly grateful to all our generous sponsors, the artists and everyone who came along to support what we do.”
Throughout the two days of the show, visitors have been helping to ‘raise pounds with hounds’ and by voting for their favourite sculpture. The winner will be announced after the show.
The Suffolk Libraries marquee has also been showcasing the vast range of activities and services available in libraries across Suffolk including Jumpstart fitness activities, Tot Rock for pre-school children and dog-themed crafts.
Several guests have supported Suffolk Libraries at the show including author and artist Marjoke Henrichs, who created the sculpture ‘Readador’ and Jason Alexander from Rubbish Walks who created ‘Pick of the Litter’ using materials he has found on litter picks. Jason also created a huge cardboard creation ‘Labradoodle’ for people to add a doodle or message of their choosing.
