Suffolk Libraries is celebrating a successful conclusion to its PAWS-itivity fundraising campaign!
A total of around £25,000 was raised to support the work of Suffolk Libraries when 42 unique dog sculptures and original artworks were sold at a charity auction at Trinity Park on Thursday night (12 October).
The auction was a sparkling evening, compered by Suffolk Libraries patrons Gina Long MBE and former BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Lesley Dolphin.
The Library Labradors encompassed a huge diversity of ideas including dogs inspired by Ed Sheeran, Kate Bush, David Bowie and the Beatles, an eye-catching Disco Dog, a puppy wearing an Ipswich Town shirt and dogs painted as leopards, zebras and the dinosaur themed Jurassic Bark.

“This is a significant amount of money which will be used to support our services across Suffolk. It’s a double success as the campaign set out to not only raise money but also to raise awareness of the big impact we have at the heart of Suffolk’s communities. We’re continually changing the traditional view of what a library service does. Many people don’t realise we’re a charity and aren’t aware of the many highly impactful ways that we nurture literacy, tackle isolation and support wellbeing. Every year we reach tens of thousands of people making a real difference to lives across the county.
“The PAWS-itivity campaign has delivered on every level by raising funds and awareness as well as providing a splash of colour and sense of fun. Our Library Labradors have been a feature at most of our sites throughout the Summer generating loads of love and affection and even some hugs from local children! The support and appreciation for our charity continues to grow and I’d like to thank everyone who has made PAWS-itivity such a success!”
Suffolk Libraries is particularly grateful to Trinity Park and the Suffolk Agricultural Association for hosting the auction, Clarke & Simpson for running the auction and Wyards Removals for their tireless work helping to move the dog sculptures around.
