The daisy display at Jimmy's farm

Suffolk’s biggest daisy chain is now on view at Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park near Ipswich.

The art installation consisting of a giant daisy chain has been created as part of Suffolk Libraries’ Make a Difference with a Daisy fundraising campaign.

Make a Difference with a Daisy focuses on the humble daisy as a symbol of resilience and positivity. Suffolk Libraries has been working with Framlingham artist, Spadge Hopkins, to create an installation of individual metal daisies arranged in a chain representing the joined-up network of libraries across Suffolk.

The chain featuring over 100 metal daisies has been on display at the Food Museum in Stowmarket since May and the campaign has already raised nearly £20,000 for Suffolk Libraries.

Thanks to a kind offer by Suffolk Libraries patron Michaela Doherty, managing director of Jimmy’s, the daisies have this week been ‘replanted’ at Jimmy’s where they will on view from 9 July until 1 September.

Anyone visiting Jimmy’s Farm will be able to see the daisies on display in the apple orchard just before you enter the main park. Whilst you won't need to buy a ticket to see them, Jimmy’s Farm have kindly provided Suffolk Library with vouchers which provide a 20% discount to enter the main park and see over 100 different species and breeds of animals. These vouchers will be available from libraries from next week.

Alex Downing, Suffolk Libraries Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, said:

“We’re very grateful to everyone at Jimmy’s for agreeing to host our beautiful daisy chain for the rest of the summer. This will allow other people to see them in a different part of Suffolk and hopefully give our fundraising efforts a boost! We hope many people will take a look when they visit Jimmy’s over the summer months. We are of course also very grateful to the Food Museum for hosting the daisies since May.”

The hope is that the daisy chain will grow further in size as more donors come forward to support the campaign. All donations are welcome but any individual donating at least £50 will receive one of the metal daisies from the installation along with a certificate of authenticity. Donations of £150 or more receive a larger 25cm daisy which will be engraved with the name of the business or individual donating. Quite a few of the donations that have already been made recognise a loved one and have been made in their memory. Local groups and businesses can also get involved by making minimum donations of £500 and having their name engraved on larger daisies also designed by Spadge Hopkins.
