Suffolk Libraries and Wellbeing Suffolk are working together to provide a series of Wellbeing Friends sessions in libraries over the coming year.
Wellbeing Suffolk currently offer Wellbeing Friends sessions online or for organisations and groups who book them. Their aim is to offer the sessions more widely across the community so hosting them in libraries provides an accessible and welcoming environment for more people to take part.
Wellbeing Friends sessions aim to get people thinking about health and wellbeing and how and where they can get help – not just for their own wellbeing but to help others too.
Each session will last about 45 mins with Suffolk Libraries Health and Wellbeing team also joining in to sharing information about the many ways Suffolk Libraries can help you with your wellbeing.
The sessions will cover the range of mental health support that’s freely available from the Wellbeing Service and Suffolk Libraries, to help with things like improving your sleep, tackling anxiety and learning relaxation techniques.
All of these in-library sessions are free to book onto via the Wellbeing Suffolk website or by contacting them on 0300 123 1503.
Sharon Lee, Community Service Manager for Wellbeing Suffolk, said:
“Suffolk’s libraries have always been a warm, welcoming and comforting space for all in our communities and play a big part in ensuring those in need get the right help and support, so to have this opportunity to work closely with Suffolk Libraries is amazing. This partnership will give us the opportunity to enrol more Wellbeing Friends and ultimately ensure anyone struggling with their mental health knows where to find help.”
Jane Cox, Suffolk Libraries Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Manager, added:
“Wellbeing is a vital part of what Suffolk Libraries offers to the local community so we’re delighted to be working with Wellbeing Suffolk in providing these sessions across Suffolk. Offering Wellbeing Friends sessions from libraries will help us provide even more support and opportunities for local people to get advice and improve their wellbeing from the library service.”
