Want to try something new but don’t know where to start? We’ve made it easy for you - five books, five amazing journeys recommended by real readers!

DiscoveReads is our exciting reading programme to help you find new and exciting reads and get you talking about books. With a selection of five great books recommended by readers, DiscoveReads is a unique way to take your reading to new places. All you need is your library card and an open mind!

This year our chosen books include Costa Book Awards shortlist The Stranding by Kate Sawyer, Sunday Times bestseller The Premonitions Bureau by Sam Knight, and one of Publishers Weekly's Mysteries of the Year Death and the Conjuror by Tom Mead. You can borrow these books from your local library or reserve a copy on our online catalogue.

Lisa Brennan, Content and Reader Development Librarian at Suffolk Libraries, said:

“We are thrilled that DiscoveReads is back and we have five great new titles, from brilliant authors. We are so delighted that all our DiscoveReads authors are taking part in author events during June. Please check out the programme and book your tickets soon via our website or Eventbrite”.

All five authors will be joining us for special interviews to talk about their books. Tickets are available to book online via Eventbrite at £5.00 each, except for Sam Knight's event which is free to attend and is held online via Zoom.

There is a limited-time 50% discount for our author event with Tom Mead at Bury St Edmunds Library.

Salley Vickers’ author talk is also part of our Ipswich 100 exhibition, celebrating the centenary of Ipswich County Library on 3 September. Suffolk Libraries would love to hear from anyone who has a special story or memory of the library – you can submit your story via this online form.
