A special open day is being held this Saturday to celebrate the new Stoke Library in Ipswich.

Stoke Library is based in Stoke High School on Maidenhall Approach and recently moved from one part of the building to another to enable the school to develop the previous library space.

The new library occupies a slightly bigger space and has new carpets and furniture with flexible wheeled shelving to make it easier to hold events and activities in the library.

Suffolk Libraries with the support of Stoke Library Friends Group is holding an open day this Saturday (13 April) from 10am to 1pm to encourage local people to check out the new library space and the facilities it offers.

The open day will feature stalls and activities including face painting, trampolining, LEGO and a teddy tombola. A number of local businesses have also supported the event and will be present on the day including Asda and Usborne Books with other stallholders selling jewellery, wax melts, and crafts. There will also be refreshments and freebies available for children.

James Powell, Communications Manager for Suffolk Libraries, is also a member of the Friends group. He said:

“We hope our new space will provide a more flexible and improved space for the local community. Anyone living in the Stoke area of Ipswich is welcome to come along to the Open Day to check out the new library and enjoy the activities! Many people don’t realise the library is a public library as it’s based within the school but it’s open to everyone!”

Stoke Library offers a Baby Bounce session every Tuesday at 10am, Adult Colouring every other Friday at 10am and Lego and Crafts club every Sunday at 10.30am.
