Suffolk Libraries is pleased to announce that a new home has been found for Long Melford Library.
From Tuesday 13 June the library will be based at St Catherine’s Church in St Catherine’s Road.
The library will initially be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm on both days.
Library activities will return from 13 June with Tot Rock for young children on Tuesdays from 2pm to 2.30pm and Top Time social sessions for older people on Wednesdays from 2.30pm to 4pm.
The plan is to hopefully increase opening hours and facilities available over the summer. As there is currently no Wi-Fi at the venue, it won’t be possible to offer public computer access or self-service but Suffolk Libraries will be working to offer these services as soon as possible.
Nick Castell, Manager of Long Melford Library said:
“We’re delighted to have found a new home and are looking forward to welcoming back customers in June. We’re incredibly grateful to the church for accommodating us and are excited about the potential for the new library and what we can offer the local community.”
The temporary mobile stop for Long Melford will still be in place for Thursday 1 June.
Suffolk Libraries is also reminding everyone that the Friends of Long Melford Library are holding their annual spring fair this Saturday (27 May) at the village hall. The fair will offer a chance to browse a variety of local delights from independent stall holders, including plants, homemade jams and chutney, pottery, cards, knits and more. There will also be fun creative activities for children to get involved with, and a lucky dip of mystery gifts. Refreshments and cakes will be available.
As part of the PAWS-itivity fundraising campaign, the Spring Fair will also host one of the Library Labrador sculptures for an exclusive appearance before they debut at the Suffolk Show on 31 May.
