Ipswich Romanian Film Festival
Enjoy a selection of featured Romanian films and documentaries as part of our festival in collaboration with the Ipswich Romanian Community!
Ipswich County Library is delighted to be hosting the first ever Ipswich Romanian Film Festival this September, in partnership with Ipswich Romanian Community. A selection of feature films and documentaries will be screened for free in the library over the weekend, celebrating and sharing Romanian cinema and culture with the town.
This event is part of a wider outreach project to the local Romanian community, aiming to bring more people into the library and help them access our services. Funding for this project comes from the Europe Challenge, an annual programme that brings together teams from libraries and communities across Europe to address social isolation, inequality, disinformation, climate crises and other local challenges. So far, the project has funded more Romanian books, room hire for English classes, and the translation of library information into Romanian.
Our opening event on Friday 13 September includes a reception before the first screening, with traditional Romanian food and drink, where you can find out more about the project. All screenings will be free to attend, but donations to Ipswich Romanian Community and Suffolk Libraries are welcome.
