Compassionate Communities

Suffolk Libraries is working with St Elizabeth Hospice as part of their Compassionate Communities project to help share books and resources about bereavement to help all ages understand and manage grief.

Compassionate Communities gives you the tools to help others whether it be at work, through community events or simply how to support a neighbour going through a bereavement. By developing these skills, we can build the confidence and resilience needed to care for one another before and after end of life.

The books cover a range of subjects related to bereavement and compassion and are appropriate for a range of ages with some devoted to helping children and young people understand grief and loss. The special book collections are available to view in-person at the following libraries:

  • Aldeburgh
  • Broomhill
  • Chantry
  • Framlingham
  • Gainsborough
  • Hadleigh
  • Ipswich
  • Leiston
  • Lowestoft

Our range of compassion and bereavement books are also available to borrow from the Suffolk Libraries catalogue and collected from any of our 45 libraries. Visit our bereavement support webpage to browse our recommended titles.
