Research into courses run to help Suffolk employers provide more support for staff affected by the menopause has revealed how they are benefitting local businesses.
The evaluation was carried out by the University of Suffolk as part of their independent evaluation into the Menopause & Me courses run by Suffolk Libraries and Suffolk Mind.
The courses are part of the wider Menopause & Me project which is providing support for employers and anyone affected by the menopause or perimenopause in Suffolk.
One in 10 women who have been employed during the menopause have left work due to menopause symptoms, and eight out of 10 women say their employer hasn’t shared information, trained staff, or put in place a menopause absence policy.
Local employers in Suffolk are being asked to sign up to a menopause pledge which includes specialist free training to help them better understand how they can create a more menopause-friendly workplace for their staff. So far 87 employers have taken the pledge and 69 have completed the courses.
