Beccles and Bury St Edmunds libraries will soon be launching their own menopause support groups.

Beccles Library will be starting their new M-Powered Menopause Group on Monday 16 September with Bury launching theirs on Tuesday 1 October.

Part of our Menopause & Me support project, these M-Powered Groups provide safe spaces for friendly and informal discussions open to anyone experiencing the perimenopause or menopause. These groups are a relaxed social environment for people to share their experiences and empower each other.

The new group at Beccles Library will run monthly on the third Monday of each month from 6.30PM to 7.30PM. Bury’s will run on the first Tuesday of the month at 5.30pm.

Bury St Edmunds Library’s group will launch with a special event featuring Diane Danzebrink, author and founder of the #MakeMenopauseMatter campaign. The launch event will be on Tuesday 1 October at 5.30PM. Diane will be talking about her new book to celebrate the start of Menopause Awareness Month.

You can watch a video about our M-Powered support groups on our YouTube channel.

Diane visited Suffolk earlier this year at an event held to mark the first anniversary of the Menopause & Me project. She said:

“The key to ensuring greater understanding of menopause is making education and information available to everyone. The initiatives that the team at Suffolk Libraries, supported by funding from the DHSC, continue to deliver to the public and to small and medium businesses are vital. The information and education that is being delivered ensures that those directly affected can make informed decisions for themselves and those in supporting roles feel better equipped to support friends, family and colleagues.”

Suffolk Libraries is one of the only library services in the UK with a dedicated health and wellbeing service, providing drop-ins, reading lists and links to other resources to help people improve their wellbeing.
