This summer, Suffolk Libraries’ Blank Page Project is hosting a competition for teens to inspire them to get creative and express their uniqueness for the chance to win a personalised mentoring session with a local artist.
The competition is open to all young people aged 10-18 who are invited to experiment with their choice of artistic mediums including sculpture, paint, writing, filmography, and anything else!
Each entry should be a creative representation of one of the following themes:
Teens can interpret and express these themes however they wish. They can use some skills learnt in a previous Blank Page Workshop, showcase a talent or try out something completely new and different. More information about the competition can be found on our website.
The competition opens on Monday22 July and closes at midday on Monday 9 September. Winners will be announced on Wednesday 18 September.
Katie Puls, Youth Activities Producer for Suffolk Libraries, said:
“We’re very excited to offer this brand-new creative competition for teens this summer! The Blank Page Project has hosted over 135 workshops in a variety of artistic mediums since it launched last Easter so this is the perfect opportunity for young people to show us what they’ve learned. The competition is open to everyone regardless of if you’ve attended a workshop previously, so whether you want to apply some new skills or showcase your talent, we encourage everyone to take part!
“The Blank Page Project is facilitated by wonderfully talented local artists and we’re very lucky to have some of them offer their time to the winning entry. This is a unique opportunity not to be missed!”
The prize for first place isa 1:1 bespoke mentoring session with a Blank Page artist of your choice. Participating artists are sculptor Alice Andrea-Ewing, illustrator Joel Millerchip, author and musician Chris James, digital and media artist Michelle Brace, photographer Gillian Allard, and theatre maker Sian Burford-Thomas.
