Suffolk Libraries’ fundraising daisy chain left Jimmy's Farm on Sunday 1 September with many of the daisies now unveiled at Somerleyton Hall Gardens near Lowestoft.
The art installation consisting of a giant daisy chain has been created as part of Suffolk Libraries’ Make a Difference with a Daisy fundraising campaign.
Make a Difference with a Daisy focuses on the humble daisy as a symbol of resilience and positivity. Framlingham artist, Spadge Hopkins has worked with Suffolk Libraries to create an installation of individual metal daisies arranged in a chain representing the joined-up network of libraries across Suffolk. The campaign has already raised over £22,500 for Suffolk Libraries.
The chain, originally featuring over 100 metal daisies, was on display at the Food Museum in Stowmarket from May to July.
Somerleyton Hall is one of Britain's most well-preserved stately homes and gardens in the heart of the Broads National. It was used as a filming location for series 4 of The Crown TV series. The owners of the hall, Lord and Lady Somerleyton, have kindly offered to host the daisies in this wonderful location for the last leg of the Make a Difference with a Daisy fundraising campaign.
Anyone visiting the hall and gardens will be able to see the daisies on display in the Walled Garden.
Alex Downing, Suffolk Libraries Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, said:
“We are delighted to have been able to extend the fundraising campaign to raise even more vital funds for our work as an independent charity. It’s not too late to support Suffolk Libraries and secure your very own daisy artwork. All donations are welcome but any individual donating at least £50 will receive one of the metal daisies from the installation along with a certificate of authenticity. Donations of £150 or more receive a larger 25cm daisy which will be engraved with the name of the business or individual donating. Quite a few of the donations that have already been made recognise a loved one and have been made in their memory."
Make a Difference with a Daisy is being sponsored by SmartestEnergy, an Ipswich-based people-powered energy company empowering customers, generators and partners to get to net zero.
The daisy chain will be at Somerleyton Hall Gardens until the end of September.
