Skulduggery in Stowmarket

Skulduggery in Stowmarket crime fiction festival is an annual celebration of the best thriller writers of our generation. Held at Stowmarket Library, this is the seventh year the popular festival has been running.

Skulduggery in Stowmarket offers people the chance to meet their favourite crime fiction authors, hear about their upcoming books and ask any questions.

The festival will take place on Saturday 26 April and will feature six best-selling and award-winning crime and thriller novelists, including:

  • Sophie Morton-Thomas: bestselling author of Bird-Spotting in a Small Town
  • Alison Bruce: bestselling author of Cambridge Blue, The Calling and The Promise
  • Bridget Walsh: award-winning author of The Tumbling Girl and The Innocents
  • Barbara Nadel: award-winning author of the Ikmen novels, now serialised for TV as The Turkish Detective
  • Tom Mead: locked-room murder-mystery author of Death and the Conjuror
  • Kate Rhodes: bestselling psychological thriller author of the Isles of Scilly Mysteries.

Individual author tickets are available for £5 each, or you can book an all-day ticket to see all six authors for £15. You can book online via the Suffolk Libraries website or in-person at Stowmarket Library.

Jane Pattle, Chair of the Stowmarket Library Friends group and the organising committee for the event, said:

“The Skulduggery organising committee are really excited about our seventh festival. We have a managed to get together a terrific line-up this year with an interesting mix of established best-sellers as well as exciting local talent. We also have a wide range of styles with historical crime, locked room mysteries, police procedurals and dark psychological thrillers, so there really is something for everyone. It promises to be an entertaining and fascinating day.”

All ticket sales go towards supporting Suffolk Libraries and the important work we do for our communities.

This June will also see the return of Suffolk Libraries’ other major crime writing festival, Slaughter in Southwold. The line-up will be announced very soon, but customers can sign up for their newsletter to receive exclusive news and updates.
