Suffolk Libraries are working with the NSFT’s Recovery College to provide a series of live streamed courses at Ipswich County Library to help people with their mental health and wellbeing

The NSFT Recovery College provides free educational workshops and courses for anyone over the age of 16 in Norfolk and Suffolk. The courses are designed to support people to invest in their own wellbeing, find empowerment on their mental health journey and become experts in their own recovery.

Ipswich County Library’s 2nd floor Chaucer Room will be screening the following free live webinars. The first two courses both cover the causes of anxiety, how it affects us and different coping and support mechanisms we can use which can help, with the first focusing on the common anxieties experienced by those aged 16-25:

  • Wednesday 6 November, 10AM – 12.30PM - Understanding and Managing Anxiety for 16-25 year-olds. This course aims to discuss common anxieties experienced by those aged 16-25 and better understand why it happens and how to try support ourselves with it.
  • Monday 2 December, 2PM – 3.30PM - Understanding and Managing Anxiety. This introduces causes of anxiety and considers different coping and support mechanisms.
  • Tuesday 3 December, 11AM – 12PM – CHIME. This course focuses on the Recovery College framework which covers five key areas of Connection, Hope, Identity, Meaning and Empowerment.
  • Tuesday 10 December, 10.30AM – 12PM - Five Ways to Wellbeing. This course explores the five ways to wellbeing framework used by the NHS and how we can use these in our everyday life to support our wellbeing.
  • Wednesday 11 December, 10.30AM – 12.30PM - Exploring Emotions. This is a gentle introduction to what we mean by emotions, naming them and identifying how they relate to our behaviours.

Booking is not essential but will give you access to the full benefits available from the Recovery College. You can book using the Recovery College online registration form.

The aim is to empower people to take control of their own lives and become experts in their own recovery.  The courses are being streamed into the library and inviting people to come along and experience them together gives them a chance to meet other people and discuss the themes covered if they wish.

Recovery College offers a safe space to learn among other people who have experienced mental health challenges. For more information visit the NSFT Recovery College web pages.
