A previous Know Another mocktail event at Stowmarket Library

Anyone attempting Dry January looking for inspiration and something else to drink is welcome to come along and sample some free mocktails on Thursday 9 January at Ipswich County Library.

The event is part of Suffolk Libraries’ Know Another drink-awareness campaign which is funded by Suffolk County Council and run in partnership with Drink Coach and Turning Point.

The event is a chance to enjoy some free specially crafted non-alcoholic drink alternatives and find out how to make them with free recipe cards on offer.  Anyone coming along is also welcome to take a short questionnaire to learn about their drinking habits and alcohol intake. Anyone is welcome to drop into the event which runs from 11AM to 2PM.

Know Another was launched in 2024 and aims to provide support, advice and guidance in the welcoming and informal setting offered by the library. The aim is to help people understand their alcohol intake, how this may affect their help and how they can cut down.

Jane Cox, Suffolk Libraries Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Manager, said:

“Many people take on the challenge of Dry January at this time of year to give their body a break from alcohol. Our mocktail event is an ideal opportunity to get some new ideas of tasty alcohol-free drinks to try and find out more about our awareness campaign.”

There is also a Know Another drop-in session at Southwold Library on Tuesday 11 February at 2PM.
