Suffolk Libraries is a charitable organisation, independent of Suffolk County Council, which runs the library service throughout Suffolk.

We have an opportunity for an experienced HR Officer to become a member of our People and Culture Team. This hybrid role will require your attendance at our office in Ipswich during your initial training period and for weekly team meetings but also offers the flexibility for home working.

The role will involve assisting the HR Advisor in all aspects of HR, recruitment and training, delivering a high quality people service through the provision of HR advice and support and strong HR Administration practices.

The role involves:

  • general HR administration including assisting with general emails and telephone enquiries;
  • ensuring that all HR and employee documentation is up to date and compliant;
  • collating new starter information including ID, eligibility paperwork, signed contracts and ensuring all employee information is received in a timely manner;
  • Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives
  • Assist in organising company events, training and wellbeing activities
  • Provide 1st level employee relations advice and administration
  • Preparing and note taking during hearings, investigations, meetings
  • Assist in the creation of the training programme.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • has previous HR administration experience
  • is highly organised, faced paced, able to use initiative;
  • has a proactive and methodical approach to work with a ‘can do’ attitude;
  • has the ability to build effective relationships with line managers and employees at all levels;
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience using HRIS, ideally iTrent.

This role is a permanent position, working 24 hours per week. Hybrid and Multisite working with at least one day a week working closely with our HR Team in Ipswich.
