A new set of around 90 health and wellbeing books are now available to library users in Suffolk thanks to a donation of £2,000 by Suffolk-based energy company SmartestEnergy.
The donation has been used to buy books to help boost physical health amongst young people and books designed to help anyone affected by cancer.
SmartestEnergy’s generous donation is in addition to their sponsorship of Suffolk Libraries’ current fundraising campaign ‘Make a Difference with a Daisy’. Some of the books were handed over by SmartestEnergy at Chantry Library's monthly cancer support group this week.
Kellie Dimmock, Suffolk Libraries Information for Living Librarian said:
“We’re so grateful to SmartestEnergy for their ongoing support for Suffolk Libraries. These books can make a real difference to anyone affected by cancer, plus the titles designed to help children and young people’s get more active will complement our new Moving Minds project. This generous donation will help to supplement our existing wellbeing books and the wide range of services and activities Suffolk Libraries offers to help everyone with their health and wellbeing. All the books will be on our catalogue and can be reserved to collect at your local library.”
Samantha Polson, Deputy Vice President of Operations for SmartestEnergy said:
“We are privileged to continue to work alongside Suffolk Libraries and support such fantastic services and activities locally. It was a pleasure meeting the cancer support group at Chantry Library, headed up by the inspirational Ian Denison who helps support and bring people together in a safe space. Chantry Library is a community-focused, welcoming space for all to enjoy and we had the privilege of experiencing this when we visited.
“We look forward to continuing our fundraising with Alex Downing and the team at Suffolk Libraries. At SmartestEnergy, we prioritise a culture where every colleague feels like a valued member of a supportive community. Together, we're not just sponsors; we're active participants in shaping a brighter future for Suffolk, where everyone can thrive."
