Anyone with a Suffolk Libraries card can borrow a Get Ready for School book bag for free from any library in Suffolk. You can order the packs via the Suffolk Libraries catalogue.
Suffolk Libraries also has many recommended reads for families with children about to start school.
Erin Hamilton, Suffolk Libraries Children's Librarian, said:
"Starting school for the first time is a huge step for a child. Our Get Ready for School bags feature picture books to help children learn about early years subjects in a fun way and these resources cover the kind of practical and social skills children will need at school such as getting dressed, sharing and having good table manners. September is a few months away but it’ll come round quickly so we’d encourage anyone with a child starting school this year to check out these resources as they can help make the transition as smooth as possible.”
The Suffolk Libraries website also has a page of parenting resources which includes advice on getting the best out of the library and recommended books covering a broad range of topics and challenges that come with raising a family.
