The Ipswich Half Marathon is a great opportunity for people to train outside in the fresh air, feel part of a team, and to help raise money for the great work we do in communities across the county.

The race will take place on Sunday 22 September and will start and finish at Portman Road Stadium.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to take on the Ipswich Half Marathon to fundraise for Suffolk Libraries! Read about why they'll be supporting us in September.

Please support our Marathoners by donating to our JustGiving page.

"I have been attending the Men Can Talk group at Chantry library for a few weeks and have been getting into running. I was going to sign up for this as a challenge for myself but makes sense to try and raise funds for the libraries to give back."

"I am currently volunteering at Thurston Library helping to set up a dementia garden that can be used by the whole community. I cared for my dad who lived with vascular dementia and was happy to support the library to achieve their goal and giving back to the community."

"I love libraries and want to support them to continue to offer the great community services they do at present. I am a volunteer and a Friend at our local library and am aware of how little funding libraries receive and how much they need to supplement this with fundraising. I am also a runner and this opportunity to run to raise money brings two of my interests together and is something I feel I could do for our libraries."

What does the money raised go towards?

In order to continue providing events as vehicles for fantastic fundraising, 20% of the income generated from the race will go to Jane Tomlinson's Run for All, a not for profit organisation who support the Jane Tomlinson Appeal

The Appeal is the legacy of the late inspirational Jane Tomlinson CBE and exists to support children’s health and wellbeing and toimprove the lives of people with cancer.

Remaining funds raised will go directly towards helping our work as a charity to nurture literacy, improve wellbeing and tackle isolation.
